Wedgwood Vase Painting
My Wedgwood vase (which doubles as a pen pot!) is the inspiration for this piece. This reverse painting features the classic Moonstone shape, which I have embellished with golden handles and a recreation of crackle glazed tiles. The frame has been repurposed, painted with gently distressed French Yellow, backed with scrap William Morris wallpaper and signed. Measuring approx 25cm x 20cm, including the frame. Signed on the back.
Reverse painting on glass is an art form consisting of applying paint to a piece of glass and then viewing the image by turning the glass over and looking through the glass at the image. I've added my own twist by applying mixed media, such as paper and gold leaf. This makes it a challenge but rewarding way to create original pieces.
